Failures at this stage are almost always temporary, the source responded slowly, the post is only minutes old, or the connection was interrupted mid-transfer.
The solution
- Wait a minute, then submit the same link again, temporary restrictions clear quickly.
- Copy a fresh link from the Share menu and retry with that.
- Very recent uploads can lag, give a minutes-old post a moment before the first attempt.
- Switch networks once, from Wi-Fi to mobile data or back, and try again.
Why this happens
Retrieving a video is a live exchange with TikTok, and TikTok occasionally responds slowly or not at all for a short period. A brief pause combined with a fresh link resolves the great majority of cases.
For posts published only seconds ago, waiting one minute before the first attempt prevents most failures altogether.
